The Sons of Pitches are an award winning group of singers who perform a cappella, in other words without either recorded music or instruments, just their own voices. They came to fame as the winners of Gareth Malone’s BBC 2 series “The Naked Choir” in 2015.

Following this success one of their very first professional performances was in Somerton for the Music and Arts Festival in January 2016 when they wowed a capacity filled church.

Since winning ‘The Naked Choir’, the group have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, delighting audiences from Birmingham to London and from Norway to Hong Kong. They’ve been on three nationwide tours and appeared on television once again on Sky One’s ‘Sing: Ultimate A Cappella’ as the show’s in-house band alongside host Cat Deeley. The group didn’t show signs of stopping as they went around the country for their 100 Number One Hits’ UK Tour.

Despite their recent success, the boys are loath to forget their humble beginnings performing at pubs and bars across Birmingham (as well as scraping a living by busking on Birmingham’s New Street for much of 2012!). With this in mind, the boys are proud to deliver vocal workshops for schools and community groups whenever they can. It remains a firm belief of The Sons of Pitches that singing a cappella is a great way to encourage creativity and to boost the confidence of both adults and children alike. The Festival is really pleased to be able to welcome them back to Somerton when on this occasion they will be giving a workshop session to pupils of King Ina Academy in the afternoon ahead of the evening concert.

The school workshop is supported by Mary & Ian Vardy.
